Hardware Stories I

Hardware involves creating a catalog of instructions, tools, and routines to DIY modify or manufacture new building components that encourage beneficial more-than-human complementarities at both micro and macro scales.
The project aims to manufacture different probes of floor tiles, ranging from found elements to crafted materials from bio-, pedo- and lithosphere.
Each component explores different aspects of qualities providing refuge, nutrition, entertainment or further potentials required by a broad notion of coexistence.
The project further provides tools for the design, sculpting and care for produced artifacts.

Designed and fabricated in collaboration with Animali Domestici (Alicia Lazzaroni + Antonio Bernacchi).

Parts of the project have been exhibited at Architectures of Cohabitation, Schaufenster Gallery, Berlin, DE (May 2022), ‘Handful’, Tallinn Architecture Biennale, Architecture School Exhibition, Tallinn, EE (Sept 2022)‘ and Weaving Worlds, Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam, NL (May 2023)
