Building with misfit wood; Revealing the potential of underutilised material - Aalto University, Espoo, FI
The structure has been created by sawing one oak tree into four sections and turning it inside out to create a spatial structure. This experiments with traditional carpentry using robotic machining, which could help to utilise whole wood as mass-tailored structural elements while inviting the aesthetics of nature back into our built environments.
The exhibition is part of the Designs for a Cooler Planet festival, one of three main events of the Helsinki Design Week.
